Bill Mann, co-owner of Buffalo Gulch Ranchhouse in Burns, has requested the county commission adopt a resolution to allow liquor-by-the-drink in eating establishments. The issue will be placed on the general election ballot.

Bob and Kathy Sprowls, owners of Kingfisher’s Inn at Marion County Park and Lake, have announced they are closing their business, serving their customers for the last time Sunday.

Marion High School homecoming king and queen nominees are Trevor Jones, Chelsi Carlson, Amber Richmond, Adam Heerey, Whitney Wear, and Dale Vogel. King and queen will be announced Friday before the start of the football game against Ellinwood.

Evelyn and Alton Matz of Lincolnville are pictured displaying a sign they purchased from Jack Spain several years ago. The sign was on the last business establishment in Elk, the Elk Store and Service Station, which was established in 1931 and closed in 1950.

The 2004 homecoming candidates at Centre High School are Shaina Makovec, Dana Beltz, Brianne Stahlecker, Andrew Hajek, Justin Garrard, and Brent Hajek, The coronation ceremony will be held Friday prior to the game with White City.
