Marion Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a trick or treat event from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday. Participating businesses will have treats available for the little ghosts and goblins and a costume contest will be held.
The second annual military pilgrimage to Pilsen, home of Korean War hero Chaplain Father Emil Kapaun, will take place Nov. 11, Veterans Day.
The Burns Thanksgiving home stay program marks 50 years since Betty Grimwood of Burns started the visitation program for international students from the University of Kansas.

Cars were parked in front of the Marion County Health Department as early as 5:30 a.m. Oct. 20 by people wanting to be first in line for the 8:30 a.m. flu shot clinic. Anita Hooper, immunization coordinator, said approximately 300 people at high risk of getting the flu were immunized during the clinic.
Chris Freeby has been selected as the MHS Athlete of the Week. Freeby had seven tackles, two interceptions, and a pass break Friday in the Warriors’ 19-0 victory over Hillsboro.
