2005 Homecoming candidates at Centre High School are Jenny Werth, Dana Beltz, Brianne Stahlecker, Ryan Markley, Justin Garrard, and Trent Hajek. Crowning ceremonies will be Friday night when the Cougars meet St. Xavier.
A feature in this week’s issue is devoted to telling the history of a home built in Marion in 1887 by Dr. F.H. Spence. The home presently is occupied by Joyce and Pat Patterson.
Junior basketball player, Allie Maddox, is the Marion County Record’s Athlete of the Week. Mattox averaged 11.5 points, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in two games.
A county landmark burned Feb. 2 a mile west of Peabody on US-50. The cut limestone house was built in 1886. Emergency services from Peabody, Florence, and Walton were called to the scene.
Nick Carlson and Katie Zogelman were crowned king and queen Friday at the MHS Queens of Courts winter homecoming celebration.
