The good news is Duckwall Variety Store in Marion and ALCO Discount Store in Hillsboro are not on the current list of stores to close. The bad news is no store is safe. On Thursday, Duckwall-ALCO Stores, Inc. announced 20 stores in nine states were closing, including seven in Kansas.

Firefighters from Marion, Lincolnville, and Florence fought a large fire March 16 that raged across a northeast Marion County pasture for more than three hours before being contained and extinguished.

The Lincolnville City Council voted Thursday evening to purchase the former Lincolnville Clinic from Marion County Hospital District No. 1. The former clinic is to be used as the Lincolnville City Building.

Burns native Brice Durbin will be inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame April 16 in Wichita.
