Marion Lions Club sponsored its 11th annual car show Saturday in Central Park. A 1964 yellow Chevrolet Impala SS convertible, owned by Jim Hefley of Hillsboro, was named Best of Show.

MHS students featured in this week’s “Senior Profiles” are Trevor Jones, John Whitwell, and Chelsi Carlson.

A five-generation photo on the “People” page features Dorothy Hayen and her daughter Virginia Downing, Virginia’s daughter Jackie Magee, Jackie’s son Charles Magee, and Charles’ daughter Ashley.

Erin Carr is the Marion County Record’s “Athlete of the Week.” Erin finished first in the triple jump and the 100- and 200-meter dashes at the Wheaton Relays. She also was a part of the 4x100m relay team, which finished first.

A feature story tells how during his 23-year career as an art instructor at Marion High School, Jim Versch never imagined he would be painting concrete rhinoceros. But, he is. Six of the animals Versch has painted are pictured along with an article explaining how he became involved. Names of businesses owning those displayed include Mike’s Service Center, Central National Bank, St. Luke Hospital, Tampa State Bank, Marion City Library, and Carlsons’ Grocery.
