This week’s decorated rhino parade includes Pat, the patriotic rhino, at the Wagon Wheel; Spike, a tough construction worker at Hett Construction; Ka-Chinga, baby ballerina at Shelter Insurance; Ole, Dala horse rhino at Brookens and Collett; Duckwall’s rhino, decorated as a tribute to company founder, A.L. Duckwall; and a Budweiser Clydesdale, complete with Dalmatian dog, at D&J Liquor.
Bryan Swensen is this week’s Marion County Record “Athlete of the Week.” Swenson had four home runs, 14 RBIs, and was 1-1 as a pitcher during a three-game regional baseball tournament at Council Grove.
Linda Goodwill and Rick Sardou, owners of R&L Creative Carving, have opened a bed and breakfast at 25 Jerome, Marion County Lake.
Marion Elementary School first grade students recently took a field trip to Marion County Lake. Pictures taken at the event included the following children: McKenzee Remmers, Alex Findley, Dylan Pippin, Kyle Eickleberry, Zach Fruechting, Calvin Montgomery, and Rylea Stringer.
Festival activities at the June 4 Chingawassa Days will include a Texas hold’em tournament, remote control car races, bed races, horseshoe tournament, amusement rides, motorcycle poker run, pedal tractor pull, dodgeball tournament, and much, much more.
