Unofficially the Chingawassa festival activities begin Thursday evening at Central Park with the Extreme Rhino Challenge competition. The final picture of Chingawassa Days rhino parade is of Ruby, the rhino reporter, whose home is in the front window of the Marion County Record.
Marion High School seniors Leann Thomas and Dale Vogel were named female and male senior athletes of the year May 24 at the MHS annual athletic banquet.
Residents of Marion County Hospital District #1 elected three members Tuesday to the district board of directors. They are Bruce Skiles, Judy Reno, and Ken Vinduska.
Harold Keazer, Rosse Case, and John Brose were recognized Thursday at a meeting of James William Miesse Post No. 22 of the American Legion for 60 years of continuous membership.
New stone benches recently installed at the Civilian Conservation Corps statue site at Marion County Lake were built by Duane Koehn, local stoneworker. Funds for the project were provided by donations from individuals in memory of relatives who served in the CCC.
Marion County Record’s athlete of the week is Jeremy Vonderkamp, junior at Marion High School, who was the lone MHS state placer in the 3A track and field competition in Wichita.
