Pastor Phil Smith began his ministry at Marion and Lincolnville United Methodist churches July 3.

Area students recently named to the spring semester honor roll at the University of Kansas include Karson Craig, daughter of Kevin and Debbie Craig, and Melissa Moffitt, daughter of Frank and Jan Moffitt, all of Marion.

A special feature, with pictures, tells how Shad Winter, son of Earl and Joan Winter, is taking care of his two sons while his wife, Staff Sgt. Tracy Winter, serves in Iraq. Shad, also a staff sergeant in the Air Force, expects to be deployed to Iraq in December, three months after Tracy is scheduled to return home.
