Approximately $28,000 was raised Friday evening at the 2005 Relay for Life at Tabor College track. Wheeler Walkers raised more than $5,200 and were the top money-raising team out of 17, while Phyllis Kreutziger was the top individual money raiser with roughly $1,150.

Gerald and Sharon Kelsey’s garden produced a bountiful harvest of tomatoes. Sharon is pictured holding a basket of two tomatoes, each weighing about two pounds.

Projects planned this year by the city include upgrades for the city water treatment plant, Marion Historical Museum improvements, new fire truck, and a used vehicle for the Police Department. All in all, the city does not plan to raise the mill levy.

Marion High School senior Toni Gordon played this summer for the Twin Lakes all-stars basketball team. The team played in the Basketball Congress International tournament and won the 17/18-under national championship. Toni is the daughter of Tod and Alice Gordon of Marion.

Engagements announced in this issue were those of Gretchen Methvin and David Karenke and Katie Barta-Moran and Chris Alexander. Both couples plan fall weddings.

The Steve and Danette Eis family of Marion will host Eduardo Zegobia from Aracatuba, Brazil, this coming school year.
