Firefighters from Marion County are planning another fund-raiser during Labor Day weekend. An afternoon of fun and evening of fireworks will be held Sept. 4 at Marion County Park and Lake.

Max and Wanda Carr were guests of honor August 13 at a potluck dinner at Eastmoor United Methodist Church to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary. The event was hosted by family members.

Seven-year-old Megan Herzet of Marion decided when her long hair was cut, she wanted to donate it to an organization that provides custom-made hairpieces for children with hair loss due to medical reasons. Ten inches of Megan’s long hair was cut by hair stylist Rolana Heidebrecht. The hair then was slipped into a resealable plastic bag and mailed to the Locks of Love organization.

Jenna Tajchman, senior in agribusiness at Kansas State, recently returned from six weeks’ study at the Czech University of Agriculture in Prague, Czech Republic.

Gatorade has replaced soap. Gatorade scrimmages, formerly known as soap scrimmages, will be Friday for Marion High and Middle schools.

Pastor Bethann Black began ministering July 4 at Florence and Aulne United Methodist churches.
