Marion County Commission approved a resolution Monday that will allow retail sales of liquor and cereal malt beverage or 3.2 beer on Sundays.

Marion National Bank will hold a celebration Thursday of its 100th century of service to the community. The bank was chartered September 9, 1905, and was located at its present location at the corner of Third and Main streets, Marion.

Representatives of Marion High School classes reporting plans for reunions during Old Settlers Day weekend, include classes of 1950, ’55, ’60, ’65. ’80, and ’90.

Marion senior Casey Nelson is recognized this week as the Marion County Record Athlete of the Week. Nelson had a career high of 200 yards rushing and three touchdowns Friday in a 42-14 victory at Halstead.

Thousands of residents and visitors will flock to Marion’s Central Park Saturday for the annual Art in the Park. Nearly 225 vendors will sell homemade craft items from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A variety of food vendors also will be available.

Marion High School’s annual homecoming king and queen will be crowned Friday. Queen candidates are Allie Maddox, Emalee Versch, and Megan Hudson. Casey Nelson, Dave DeForest, and Michael Brookens are the king candidates.
