The site where Marion Swimming Pool is located could be the site for a new gymnasium and indoor/outdoor swimming pool. Lee Leiker, superintendent of Marion-Florence USD 408, announced Monday that research is being conducted for the project.

Charles Heerey of Marion celebrated his third retirement from employment Friday. His first was from the U.S. post office, second as an electrician, and now this time as a real estate agent.

Preliminary approval was given Monday by Marion City Commission to expand the commission to a five-member council.

Jason Hett, junior at Marion High School, is this week’s Marion County Record Athlete of the Week. Hett did it all Friday in a 48-21 victory over Ellinwood. He threw a 40-yard touchdown pass, caught a 41-yard touchdown pass, intercepted two passes, rushed for four yards, and recorded two tackles.

The family of Virginia Shields and the late Fred Shields of Lost Springs has received the Heritage Preservation Award from the National Santa Fe Trail Association in recognition of the family’s efforts to preserve the Old Lost Spring, located two and one-half miles west of Lost Springs on the historic Santa Fe Trail.
