Residents filled the Marion County Commission room Monday to hear speakers for or against a referendum special election for a casino development in Marion County. A special election will be held and county voters will decide the fate of the development.

Marion High School will present “The Music Man” Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Marion City Building. Pictured cast members are Kate Whitaker, Elisa Gayle, Tedra Eis, Michael Brookens, and Allison Meador.

There will be a community Thanksgiving dinner, after all. Members of Valley United Methodist Church will coordinate the event and are asking other churches and residents to assist.

Herb and Wilma Regier of Marion will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Thanksgiving weekend with a family celebration at Ashland.

The Marion community is invited to attend the annual lighting of the Christmas tree in Central Park at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 27.

Max Hayen gave information and a slide show about county courthouses in Kansas at the Nov. 7 meeting of Neo-Century Club.

Pat Wick and Jessica Gilbert, known as the California Sisters, will open a gift shop in Ramona Nov. 25. The gallery, in the newly refurbished historic barbershop building, can be found on Ramona’s Main Street.
