A spring storm blew through Marion County Sunday evening causing damage in various areas of the county. The roof was ripped off a repair shop owned by Roger and Laura Williams of rural Florence and there was considerable damage to a number of places in the Pilsen community.

Jeremy Armstrong and his family have moved to Marion from South Dakota and have purchased a home at Marion County Park and Lake. Armstrong is the newly hired chief executive officer of St. Luke Hospital, Living Center, and Marion County Home Care.

Seniors David DeForest and Megan Hudson have been named Marion High School students of the month.

Solar lights will be installed along the nature trail in Central Park. Only four will be installed for now to determine if they would be feasible to maintain. Previously memorial gaslights had been along the trail, but vandalism and the high cost of natural gas led the city to remove the lights.

Travis Hett, Marion High School junior, finished second April 17 at the Council Grove invitational golf meet, and has been named this week’s Marion County Record Athlete of the Week.
