A viscous storm blew through Marion County Friday evening damaging trees, buildings, and knocking out power. Residents cleaned up branches and debris Saturday with a steady stream of vehicles to the city’s tree dump.

Seven- and eight-year-old members of the Central National Bank baseball team are Calvin Montgomery, Mason Pedersen, Taylor Fahey, Nathan Baldwin, Peyton Heidebrecht, Joel Jirak, Corbin Montgomery, and Wesley Dick.

Marion Manufacturing, Inc. was the recipient of the city’s business of the year award Monday evening at the Marion City Council meeting. One of the 14 nominees for the recognition, the fabricating business has been a part of the Marion community since 1979.

Lisa Buccholz has joined her parents, Marlin and Debbie Buchholz, owners of Marion Healthmart Pharmacy, for the summer after graduating with a doctorate in pharmacy degree from the University of Kansas.

Thirty Marion children are participating in this year’s children theatre performance of “Shakespeare Goes to Gravel Gulch” or “The Villain Drove a Bard Bargain.”

Members of the five- and six-year-old Marion Manufacturing t-ball team are Kourtney Hansen, Drew Helmer, Samantha Richmond, Karly Park, Emma Spachek, and Katie Marler.
