Marion County Commission will visit the former Florence Health Care location Monday afternoon to determine if it is viable location for a new county jail. The building has been vacant and for sale for several years.

Jim and Tina Novak, owners of Kingfisher Steakhouse and Lounge at Marion County Lake, have decided to sell their restaurant. The restaurant had closed to people several weeks ago.

Motorists were stopped Friday at Marion Middle School/High School and Elementary School and checked for seat belts. Those motorists who had all passengers and themselves buckled in were rewarded with $1. Others, who weren’t, received literature about the importance of seat belts.

Marion High School Warriors are ready for the football season. Seniors leading the pack this year are John Barr III, Riley Ross, Kyle Hett, Jason Hett, Clay Riggs, Chase Williams, exchange students Toby Braeuer and Thomas Schraffrath, Dusty Britton, and Emmanuel Jackson.

Several hundred people enjoyed a Sunday afternoon of fun and games at Marion County Lake during the third annual fundraiser for Marion County fire departments. Drawings were held for various prizes. McKenzie Ehlers won a Henry Golden Boy .22 rifle, Jaci Bridgewater won a La-Z Boy recliner, and Tyler Arocha was chosen to ride on a fire truck to start the first round of fireworks.
