Mayor Max Hayen presented electrical lineman and meter reader Bob Matz with a wooden-cased mantle clock on his retirement after 29 faithful years of service to the city. The presentation was made during a public recognition ceremony Monday afternoon.

The “Last Member Club” of Marion High School Class of 1927 will meet for their annual reunion at noon Sept. 10 at the Stone City Café.

A group of Marion High School juniors will work Saturday at Worlds of Fun amusement park in Kansas City, Mo. The group could make up to $1,400 depending on number of students who participate.

Herb and Joyce Jackson have arrived back in China after spending a few weeks with friends and relatives in the USA, including Marion.

The White Oak Inn, a Victorian bed and breakfast, will hold an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. John and Diana Maxfield, who bought the home at 115 Elm Street in 1998, officially opened for business Wednesday.
