Boy and girl winners in the 2007 Marion Kiwanis Club punt, pass, and kick competition are Elizabeth Meyer, Trevor Kinnersley, Brian Fruechting, Grif Case, Wil Case, Troy Higgs, Taylor Heidebrecht, Bret Voth, Bailey Robson, Jordan Carlson, Tyler Arocha, Bryce Shults, Brayden Putter, Mason Pederson, Kaelyn Thierolf, Allie Boyd, and David Smith.

Marion County Register of Deeds Faye Makovec retired Sept. 28 after recording deeds, mortgages, and death certificates for Marion County residents for 35 years. Jo Ottensmeier will complete Makovec’s term as register of deeds until next year’s election.

Preliminary enrollment figures indicate all five school districts in Marion County have had an 8.7 decrease in enrollment.

There were 34 parade entries Saturday in Lincolnville’s Octoberfest celebration. Grand marshal of the parade was Bunny Kaiser. The theme prize went to the City of Lincolnville with their float featuring Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the Gang. The City of Ramona took first place among the other floats.

Brett Billings and the Marion defense were at their best Friday night in a 28-0 shutout at Lyons. Billings recorded a sack and three tackles, and the defense as a whole limited Lyons to just 84 yards of total offense.
