For nearly 40 years, Stan Reed of Marion has learned as much about the Civil War as anyone in this area. Perseverance and patience has resulted in Reed making an interesting discovery.

Tom Reed, brother of Walter Reed — the Army Major whose name and memory is immortalized with an Army medical center in Washington, D.C. being named after him — is buried in Marion Cemetery.

An article entitled “People we know” features Ira Penner, who along with many other activities, joins Rex Wilson in collecting aluminum cans to benefit local Girl Scout troops.

A group of nine Marion High School students and 14 adults spent three days in June and saw three musicals inspiring the students to strive for an outstanding fall musical. MHS will present “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” in November.

Students on the trip were Michael Kirkpatrick, Landon Leiker, Brandon Meierhoff, Tristen Snelling, Emily Hett, Megan Overton, Annie Whitaker, Alex Young, and Olivia Young.
