Volunteers will gather in Marion Elementary School’s kitchen Friday evening to make about 1,000 bierocks to sell Saturday at Art in the Park as a fundraiser for the Marion High School Booster Club.

A balanced running game continues to be an integral part of the Marion Warrior football team. On Friday night, senior Drew Maddox wowed the Warrior crowd with a 95-yard kick return for a touchdown. However, the Warriors came up short in the game with Collegiate that night, losing 14 to 21.

EMTs Gene Winkler of Marion and Rod Bolstad of Hillsboro retired Sept. 1. Winkler has 37 years of experience and Bolstad has 26 years.

Centre High School fall homecoming candidates are Shelby Deines, Josie Peterson, Carlye Simons, Alex Hajek, Jacob Jennings, and Quentin Wacker. The coronation will be Friday at Cougar Field.

Forrest Kelsey, 711 S. Coble St., Marion, shows a petunia plant her and his wife, Bea, purchased this spring. The plant is in a 12-inch pot and has grown probably eight to10 times bigger than it was at the time it was purchased.
