It was a balmy day in Marion Saturday, as thousands gathered to watch the Old Settlers’ Day parade and to visit with friends and relatives.

Four generations of McLindens, including Bud, 84, Richard, Chuck, and Lauren, 4, rode horses in the Old Settlers’ Day parade.

Three Marion High School graduates are starters for the Emporia State university football team. Bill Griffith is a starting defensive lineman, Chuck Maggard, a starting offensive lineman, and Jason Wheeler, a starting tight end.

Winners in the men’s division of the annual Old Settler’s Day run were Jim Christensen, Marion, first; Lloyd Davies, Lincolnville, second; Mike Moran, Marion, third. Women’s division winners were Ann Leppke, Marion, first; Marlys Plett, Hillsboro, second; Trudy Slifer, Marion, third.
