City of Marion commissioners studied specifications and bids Monday and ordered a new bucket truck through Williams Service of Florence. The truck and special equipment will replace an older high ranger unit for working on electrical lines. It will have extension sufficient to reach the lights at the baseball field.
King candidates for Centre High School’s winter homecoming are Jerry Fenske, Brandon Hanschu, Albert Jirak, and Jesse Smith. Queen candidates are Adrianne Peterson, Kelly Riggin, Michaela Polotto, and Aminda Brunner.
Six students representing Marion Elementary School and Marion Middle School will compete Thursday in the annual county spelling bee. Natalie Wills finished first in the MES school contest. Trevor Jones was second with Tyson Heidebrecht being the school’s alternate. Winner of the MMS bee was Tyler Stubenhofer. Tim Schuler finished second and Brian Bina is the alternate.
Proposed improvements to electrical, natural gas, and water service will make Marion more attractive to businesses while stabilizing or lowering costs to taxpayers, city administrator Dennis Nichols told Marion Kiwanians Monday. The projects under consideration are a city-owned electrical plant, a city-owned natural gas distribution system, and expanded city water plant.
