Marion City Commissioners heard concerns Monday regarding plans to build electrical generating and gas distribution plants in Marion. City Attorney Dan Baldwin said a petition statement had been presented to his office for review of legalities. If signed by 20 percent of qualified electors the petition would require the city to hold a special election before issuing $9.5 million in revenue bonds to construct the plant.
Jeff Cady has joined the Jerry Cady Agency in Marion, an agency for National Farmers Union Insurance.
Eight members of Webelos Cub Scout Pack 102 “crossed the bridge” to Boy Scouts March 22. Michael Brookens, Gavin Moore, Casey Nelson, Jeffrey Richmond, David Smith, Jeremy Vonderkamp, Brandon Watson, and Preston Williams, all in fifth grade, were recognized during the ceremony.
Keith Goentzel has been selected as Marion High School student of the month by the MHS faculty. The senior is the son of John and Marlene Goentzel or Marion.
After spending nearly 20 years as a missionary for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Tom Nelson is living with his parents, Gene and Naomi Nelson of Burdick. Nelson spent 10 years in Japan and three years in Slovakia before going to Malaysia last year.
