On a split vote, Monday Marion County Commissioners approved the regional solid waste plan. Commissioners Bob Hein and Linda Peterson voted for the plan. Jack Bruner was opposed, saying commissioners should postpone a decision until an attorney reviews changes.

A wedding shower for Clark Wildin, bride-elect of Josh Whitwell, was held Sunday in the fellowship hall of Valley United Methodist Church. Hostesses were Marjory Sardou, Helen Reznicek, Margaret Wilson, Kay Steele, Phyllis Melton, Nadine Hoch, Linda Ogden, Ruth Ann Griffith, and Pauline Edmunds.

Life in a small town revolves around the grocery store, post office, and grain elevator. After Saturday, when Moffitt’s Market in Tampa closes its doors for the last time, the community will feel the pinch.

Four students were honored April 17 at the Marion High School prom. Tyson Grimmett and Holly Eddy were named prom king and queen. Oliver Good and Samantha Collett were named prom prince and princess.

Jayson Hanschu, son of Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu of Ramona, has been appointed a full-time agent for American Family Insurance Group. He serves a west Wichita area.
