A tornado touched down at the farm home of Todd and Jayleen Hein, southeast of Durham, between 6:30 and 7 p.m. Sunday. A machine shed and two cattle sheds were destroyed and several farm implements were damaged. There were several twisters reported in the area, but no other damage.

Marion Presbyterian Church’s graduating seniors were guests of honor Sunday noon at a dinner in the home of Jean and Alex Case. Honorees were Carrie Darrow, Lisa Buchholz, David Darrow, Scott Hannaford, Adam Thomas, Josh Powers, and Dusty Sharp.

The “Big M” on the side of a hill just east of Marion’s sports complex on Eisenhower Drive will be lighted at night, every night. The concrete M has become a point of pride in the community, especially to school athletes and those interested in Marion’s long tradition of athletic prowess. The lighting will be paid for by funds contributed in memory of Daniel Buckner who died in tragic accident nearly a year ago.

Jackie Hett and Anita Weber were inducted into the Hall of Fame of Marion’s Women’s Bowling Association during the group’s annual banquet Friday. Hett is president of the association and has been bowling for 34 years. Weber is a charter member and former vice president.
