Marion Middle School should be available by Thanksgiving, Marion Unified School District board of education learned Monday at their regular monthly meeting. The district has promised the new commons area and kitchen will be open for the annual community Thanksgiving dinner.

Main Street resurfacing is completed except for final painting of double yellow lines in a few sections.

Rachel Beausoleil and Federico Watson were crowned homecoming king and queen Friday at the Centre High School football game against hope.

Marion Elementary School kindergarten students visited the fire station Friday as part of Fire Prevention Week. Firefighters in oxygen masks and helmets sometimes scare children when they come to rescue them, so the visit helps the youngsters recognize firefighting gear.

Kansas Attorney General Carla Stovall will give the keynote address Nov. 14 at the annual women’s workshop to be held at Marion Elementary School.

Marion County Commissioner Linda Peterson has been named to the Intergovernmental Relations Steering Committee of the National Association of Counties.

The former Main Street Café restaurant has been sold to David and Brenda McGinness.
