Marion Historical Preservation Committee met Oct. 22, with chairman Bruce Skiles in charge. Harry Bennett was added as a member of the committee, as he is in charge of the Santa Fe depot project.

Six former students and two former teachers of Bixler School District No. 29 met Thursday at the home of Alex and Jean Case. The Case home formerly was part of the Bixler School. Teachers Edith Loveless and Betty Dalke and students Fred, Ezra, and Will Helmer, Ann (Helmer) Boese, Lois (Bell) Weber, and Darlene (Richmond) Gutsch gathered to look at old pictures and reminisce.

“Beary Special Babies” who were born at St. Luke Hospital during the month of October include one girl, Kimberly Dawn Bezdek, and five boys, Mason Reid Pedersen, Jeremy James Hett, Joel Richard Jirak, Cole Daniel Methvin, and Brian Wayne Giesel.

Marion County residents are drying off after storms dropped six or more inches of rain this past weekend. Rain started Friday and continued through Monday.

Crews on Thursday installed the last panes of blue glass between Marion High School and Marion Middle School. The panes form one wall of a three-story staircase between the buildings.

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Wichita, will present organist Burton K. Tidwell, Marion, in recital Sunday. The concert is offered as part of a yearlong celebration of the church’s 60th anniversary.
