The City of Marion is serious about taking over the local natural gas distribution system and cooperating with Hillsboro to construct an electric generating plant to shave summer peak loads. The commission met Monday afternoon with Bill Drees of Shafer, Kline, and Warren, a firm of consulting engineers from Kansas City.
Equipment will be moved into Marion Middle School starting Nov. 18 with classes beginning Nov. 23.
The engagement of Clark Christine Wildin to Joshua Lynn Whitwell, son of Eddy and Janie Whitwell of rural Marion, is announced this week by her parents, Bradford and Jeannie Wildin. The couple will be married May 14, 1999.
Announcement was made this week by the Bradbury Group, headquartered at Moundridge, that they are planning the acquisition of Marion Die and Fixture, Inc., located at Marion.
Marion residents Anita Hancock and Lenore Wheeler Mitchell will sing Sunday at the Bethel College Sing-Along with Robert Shaw. Shaw is regarded as the pre-eminent American choral specialist.
20th Century Club members enjoyed a visit to the Bearly Makin’ It antique shop the evening of Nov. 2. Marion Ogden, co-owner of the shop, gave an interesting talk on his interest in antiques. He told how he got started, how and where to buy and sell, and how to know the value of antiques.
