Bank Consolidation

On January 1, the Marion State Bank and the State Bank of Commerce will consolidate and the business continued under the charter held by the State Bank of Commerce in the same place now occupied by that bank.

Dinner Party

Mrs. W.C. Mayes entertained at a 5 o’clock dinner Friday, December 16. The dining room was tastefully decorated for the occasion. The following ladies were invited:

The Cottonwood’s Story

A jolly crowd of students enjoyed a hayrack ride to the Dobbs schoolhouse north of town last Friday evening where they took in the pie social. Miss Bassett and Miss Apel chaperoned the party.

New blackboards have been put in the assembly room at the high school.

Clarence Winchester is driving the U.S. express delivery wagon and Fred Shanklin is devoting his time to telegraph work. Fred has become quite expert with the key while taking care of the express and he is getting in line for promotion.

Hargett & Bryan will move their restaurant into the Forney building recently vacated by the Richardson Bros. grocery.

The Methodists will hold their Christmas exercises on Saturday evening. There will be a tree and exercises by the children. On Sunday evening, the church choir will give a special Christmas song service.

The Ford brothers, who live four miles south of Marion, sold five sows last week that weighed a total of 2550 pounds and brought an average price of $36 per head.

Chas. Firebaugh has bought the Antelope store. They begin invoicing Monday.
