A party of young people had a very enjoyable hay wagon ride Monday evening. They went a short distance east of town and then had some lively games and some ice-cold watermelons. Members of the party were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sheldon, Misses Vinnie Wible, Helen Mollohan, Winifred Powers, Marie Cuthbert, Dora Powers, Maude Bixler, Carrie Watson, and Messrs Earle Rogers, I.E. Runyan, D. Lewis, J.W. Mavity, Leslie Bryan, Harry Rogers, and Allen Siebert.

A force of men are putting up more cables for the Bell Telephone Co.

Miss Lizzie Apel returned today from her European trip accompanied by her sister Margaret who has been studying in Germany for a number of years.

Rev. John Sklenar, pastor of the Catholic Church at Pilsen, when to Ellinwood Monday.

A band of gypsies struck town Tuesday and just about everybody received unwelcome calls. This nomadic band will probably remember Marion for some time to come as three of their number were arrested and fined.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilhelm Friesen of Russia are in this county visiting old time friends and prospecting. They may decide to locate here. Mr. Friesen is in the flour milling business on a large scale in Russia.

Mrs. Dan Kline entertained the Junior Mission Class of the Evangelical Church Tuesday afternoon. Stories, games, singing, ice cream and cake made a pleasant spot in each child’s memory. Guests were Irene Allen, Nellie Williams, Ruth Williams, Fern Alexander, Mildred McIntosh, Marion Pierce, Elmer Pierce, Orlie Landis, and Ethel Pierce.

Miss Aline Frazer is taking a vacation from the Grand and went to Topeka Sunday to spend the week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S.T. Howe.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Florer, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Powers, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Bryan, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hauser are camping out up on Carl Stebbins’ place.
