A number of Marion ladies are planning to attend the meeting of the Woman’s Kansas Day Club which will take place in Topeka on Tuesday of next week.
A Marion man insists that he has a very shy and bashful watch and when you press him for an explanation, he calls attention to the fact that the watch always holds its hands in front of its face.
The depot painters happened to be at work here at the time the Santa Fe directors decided to have the Santa Fe trademark painted just above the names of the towns which appear on either end of the station buildings. And so, Agent Stanton tells us, the first one of these new trademark signs, that will eventually appear on every depot belonging to the Santa Fe, was put on the Marion depot.
Holder Bros. have had the appearance of their barbershop greatly improved with wallpaper, paint, etc., and they have also added an electric vibrator to their equipment. They can now give facial massage in up-to-the-minute style. Ladies, whose homes are wired for electric lights, can arrange to have the beautifying operation performed in the privacy of their own homes.
A lot of nice Peabody girls came over last Friday evening and tried to beat our Marion girls playing ball, but it was no use. You just can’t get ahead of the Marion girls and so the visitors had to go home with only three points in their favor as against Marion’s 17. We certainly did them good.
Miss Daisy Wible has been appointed as deputy register of deeds and has taken up the duties of the position. She is a most capable young lady and will no doubt make and efficient officer.
The County Farm will change hands on February 1, W.K. Palmer retiring as superintendent and Geo. Turner taking his place.
