Record Enrollment

The Marion High School has the largest enrollment this year in its history. One hundred and seven pupils are enrolled and this will doubtless be increased somewhat during the year. The total will probably reach 110.

There is one post-graduate student, 13 seniors, 18 juniors, 39 sophomores, and 36 freshmen.

J.H. Siebert is the owner of a new Chalmers “Thirty,” the first one of the make to be owned in Marion. It is one of the most classy cars on the market and is especially noted for its smooth and easy running qualities. The “Thirty” is a five-passenger car, and costs complete, including equipment and freight, about sixteen hundred dollars.

You wouldn’t think it, would you, but that eight carloads of grapes have been shipped into Marion and sold here this season?

There was quite a severe electrical storm at Elk last Thursday evening. Also some hail and a hard wind. Els Sampson had two cattle killed by lightning, Frank Lehman a calf, and Fin Ross, two hogs.

At the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Conyers, September 15, a very pleasant wedding occurred, uniting in marriage Miss Rena Belle Conyers and Mr. John Hett, Rev. E.T. Julian officiating. This was also the 30th anniversary of the marriage of the bride’s parents.

Mr. Reuben Riggs was here the latter part of last week visiting his brother, Mr. John Riggs, and many old-time friends. He has been living in Los Angeles, Calif., for a number of years.

The Aulne Hardware Co. has sold out, and will dispose of all their buggies, wagons, and implements of all kinds, at cost, until October 1st.

Arthur Burkholder, Isaac Hehn, Isaac Schlotterbeck, Athol Vadakin and Ben Hirschler left last Friday to enter the Agricultural College at Manhattan.
