The weather has warmed up considerably the past few days and the snow and ice are rapidly disappearing. But the roads—don’t mention the subject.

Another business block for Main street is now assured. Mr. Chas. Wheeler has decided to erect a two story building on his lots just west of what is known as the Y.M.C.A. building. The size will be 50 by 60 feet and the front will be of plate glass. The Central Automobile Agency, of which B.H. Hirschler is manager, has a long time lease on all of the first floor.

The council will meet this evening to open bids for putting in the new waterworks and electric light plant. The prospects are that there will be quite a large number of bidders.

These are great days. Even the boys are having their liberties taken away from them. When they play hooky they not only have to answer to the teacher and to their parents, but the probation officer swoops down on them, takes them back to school, and scares them half to death.

The skating on the river has not been better for years and the boys are putting in overtime on the ice, but for some reason, the older young people don’t seem to be enjoying the sport to any great extent.

The members of the Christian church are very much gratified over the fact that they now have a first class furnace installed and the anticipation of a pleasant and comfortable auditorium has developed into a realization. Rudd and Lindenmire did the job.

The board of education has decided against the proposition of locating the new tower and tank on or near school grounds where pupils would be exposed to danger from failing icicles, timbers, etc.

A bright little Marion girl has lost her nice gold bracelet and if the finder will kindly bring it to this office, the sorrowful owner will be tickled to death.
