Owing to the bad weather, the Marion Pharmacy postponed its soda fountain “Opening” from last Saturday to Saturday of this week. One-third of the proceeds on Saturday—day after tomorrow—will be given to the library fund. As noted last week, the new fountain is the finest ever put up in the town and is a beauty.

The new steam ditcher arrived several days ago and work was begun yesterday afternoon digging the trenches for the water main extensions.

Paul Williams, the Marion runner, won first place at the State High School Track meet at Lawrence the other day. Another Marion boy, Willard King, won third place.

The Dramatic Club had a great time at Lost Springs last Friday evening. They gave “All a Mistake” to a crowded house. And, if reports are half-true, it was about the most appreciative audience that could be imagined. The Lost Springs folks treated the Marion folks mighty fine.

The Presbyterians are considering the church-building proposition and the indications now are that active work in the matter of raising the fund for that purpose will be begun very soon.

Aulne is having a mad-dog scare. Two of Will Eichelberger’s horses went mad and had to be killed, and one of the hogs belonging to a neighbor also showed signs of having hydrophobia and the owner killed it in order to run no risk.

Mr. J.S. Good is here from Berlin, Canada, for a visit with his sons Josiah and Jacob. Mr. Good is looking hale and hearty and is pleased to be back among old friends again. He will remain a couple of weeks.

The Hirschler Auto Company unloaded three new Overland cars here Tuesday and one of them was delivered yesterday to a Mr. Goosen who lives south of Hillsboro. It is a safe guess that others will go quick.

The Polka Dot club met Monday evening with Miss Eulah Marner. The girls presented one of their members, Miss Gertrude Sheets, whose marriage to Mr. Chas. Vaughn Jr. took place last night, with some elegant pieces of cut glass.
