The county clerk has tabulated the population statistics returned by the tax assessors. The largest gain among the towns was made by Florence. Town population figures are as follows: Marion, 2133; Peabody, 1628; Florence, 1229; Hillsboro, 1251; Lehigh, 400; Durham, 274; Tampa, 240; Lost Springs, 262; and Burns, 477.

Three new members were initiated yesterday evening in the presence of 85 home and visiting Woodmen attending the Marion Woodmen all-day picnic. The new members of the Marion camp are Fred Oyer, Howard Daniels and Fred Stanley.

Thirty or forty ladies of the town—members of the Dawn, Thimble, and Priscilla clubs—met at the Commercial rooms on Tuesday afternoon to consider the matter of Park Improvement. If the ladies are willing to undertake the public-spirited work of looking after park interest, no doubt the commissioners will welcome their offer.

It is probable that very few of our readers are aware of the fact that a very fine quality of ice cream is manufactured in large quantities here at Marion. Messrs. Wolf & Fox, the creamery men, have been supplying the local trade and some of the surrounding towns for quite awhile.

John Young was declared insane by Judge Vaughn on Tuesday and application for his admission to the asylum has been made. In the meantime, he is being taken care of at the jail.

A picnic was enjoyed Monday evening on Spring Branch east of town by Misses Eulah Marner, Gladys Corby, Clara Sumner, Aline Frazer, Clara and Fae Paddock and Messrs. N.S. Myers, Chas. Niederhauser, Will Kieferle and D. Lewis.

There will be an ice cream social at the Aulne school house on Friday evening, June 17. Everybody cordially invited to attend.

Miss Carrie Miller opens her photograph gallery in the new Thompson building today. She will be pleased to have you give her a call.

From the returns made by the tax assessors we find that on the first of last March there were 151 automobiles in the county. The number returned in the different cities is as follows: Marion, 32; Peabody, 23; Florence, 6; Ramona, 1; Hillsboro, 15; Lehigh, 4; Durham, 3; Tampa, 8; Lost Springs, 2; and Burns, 4.
