Today is one of the finest days of the year, and its greatest pleasures come from the family gatherings that are held. There is joy for everyone except T. Gobbler—for him it is a day of sadness, but in a good cause.

The Aulne people who put on the “Masonic Ring” in Marion last Friday evening did themselves proud. They had enthusiastic advance notices from Marion people who had heard them in Aulne and they more than made good. One hundred and ten witnessed the performance. The play was for the benefit of the good roads movement.

A chance will be offered within the coming week to Marion businessmen to help secure a cold storage plant here. Wolf & Fox, the creamery men, and Charley Watson appeared before the Retail Merchants Association Monday evening and presented a proposition that looked good to the men present.

Mrs. J.N. Rogers entertained at 6 o’clock dinner Friday evening for the cast of the “Masonic Ring.” Covers were laid for Mrs. Nona Good Edgar, Misses Clara Sumner, Minnie Klein, Nellie Burkholder, Floy Tharp, Irene Davis, Messrs. A.C. Edgar, Will Ruggles and Lawrence Harrison, all of Aulne.

Joe Thomas has sold his interest in the Newton Lumber Co. to Grant Winne, son of Fox Winne, of Newton, who has been for many years Mr. Thomas’ partner in the business. Mr. Thomas has been in the business for twenty-five years or more and leaves it with the record of straight dealing and faithful service, and his many friends wish him success in whatever work he may take up.

Among the many people who attended the Billy Sunday meetings in Wichita Sunday were Geo. Tompkins, Gus Schmersey, and Miss Ann Sievers.

Loveless and Sons has established a Santa Claus Post Office at their store where letters addressed to him will be received. Letters addressed to anyone but Santa will not be received and letters bearing a U.S. postage stamp will not be received. Children are invited to come to their store and select what they want for Christmas, then write to Santa about it.
