Funk Sells Business

Ferd J. Funk has sold his furniture and undertaking business to Mr. Walter Thompson of Burlingame and his son, Mr. W.H. Thompson of Eureka, and the new proprietors expect to take charge soon after the first of the year. The son is at present in the furniture business at Eureka. The new proprietors succeed to a splendid business and will be cordially welcomed to the town.

The football game on Thanksgiving between the Marion and Emporia H.S. teams was not much of a battle. It was all the Marion way from start to finish and the final score was 79 to 0. There was a fine crowd in attendance and the day was an ideal one for the game.

Mrs. Alvin Maltby has an exhibit of watercolor pictures and calendars at Sheldon’s jewelry store. These articles are for sale for the Christmas trade.

The official marker for the Old Santa Fe Trail has been selected and copyrighted. It will be a board 12 by 28 inches in size with these words on it: “Old Santa Fe Trail. Pan-American Highway.” Below these words will be an arrow showing direction and distance to the next town, which will be named. There will be two of these markers at every turn in the road, arranged crossways to the road so that they can be easily seen for some distance before being reached.

John Powers has had the name of his farm “Riverside Alfalfa Farm” registered in the County Clerk’s office.

W.W. Loveless and Sons advertises many toys for Christmas buying. Toys for girls include dolls, chairs, doll furniture, coffee mills, doll houses, doll buggies, pianos, irons, games, paints, stoves, dishes. Everything of the little girl and her dolls. Toys for boys are advertised as rocking horses, tool chests, tops, wheelbarrows, sleds, drums, balls, ships, guns, games, magic lanterns, horns, whistles, books, masks, and air ships. Everything for the boy who likes to see the wheels go ‘round.
