There will be a mass meeting in the Court Room February 25 for the purpose of discussing the proposition to pave Main street. Not only the Main street property owners who would bear the most of the expense, but all other citizens of the town and surrounding country who are interested in the good-street, good-road proposition are urged to attend.

The county attorney has begun action in Justice Keller’s court against the proprietor of the Elgin hotel on a charge of violating the prohibitory law. The hearing has been set for the latter part of March.

Dr. Talton Taylor Davis, one of the county’s pioneer citizens and doctors, passed away February 19 at the sanitarium in Kansas City, Missouri. May this rugged old doctor, whose deepest impulse was one of inherent kindness and integrity, rest in peace.

A box social will be given at the Brown school house, District 10, Thursday, Feb. 29. A program will be given by the school, assisted by Supt. Ray’s orchestra. Everybody invited. Joseph McIntosh, teacher.

Grandpa Mehl had the grippe so severe that Dr. Eye was called last Saturday morning.--District. 39 correspondent.

Roscoe King has gone to Lawrence to finish his work at the State University Law School. He was admitted to the bar a year ago but still has a little work in the school in order to get his degree.
