Why doesn’t some patriot who has the money, or who has enough to get others who are in the same fix to help him, arrange for the sustaining of a Carnegie Library in Marion? There is no doubt that Carnegie can be induced to come across with a fine structure for Marion if Marion will make the plans for sustaining the institution after the building is erected.

Sweepers have been cleaning the sand from the newly paved streets this week, making them look much better.

Kieferle and Williams will open a hardware store in Lost Springs the first of February. This will give them three stores.

One of the saddest occurrences in the community for many years was the death by drowning Jan. 17 of two children of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Thomas.

The oldest was Carl, who was five, and the younger was Sarah, who was four.

A cousin who witnessed the affair said the little girl fell through the ice and her brother tried to get her out but went in the water also.

Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Siebert are planning to build a new residence in the spring. They expect to build on the site of their present home.

J.W. Nusbaum, county agent for the Ford automobile, received 20 machines this week.
