“The Good Time Is Coming.” Marion County’s fiftieth anniversary will be celebrated on Old Settlers’ Day, September 29th, in Central Park, Marion. Make your plans to come. Full particulars next week.

The City Schools opened this week, with an enrollment of about 520. Of this number, 357 are in the grades and 164 in the High School. Nearly all of the 124 school districts of the county begin this week.

Mr. Hazen, Power Plant Supt., expects to have the temporary arrangements for lights completed this week. Power will be furnished by the Cottonwood Mill engine. Lights for residences and business houses will be furnished under this temporary arrangement, but not street lights.

Miss Emily Holub, daughter of Mrs. Fannie Holub, of the Pilsen neighborhood, won the piano in the contest which has been conducted for several months by the Loveless, Pantle and Hereford stores. Miss Irene Firebaugh won second place and Miss Ida Wittmeyer, third.

Members of the School Board and their wives will have a reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Siebert for the school teachers, on Friday evening. There will be a short program and an informal get-acquainted time,

Mr. H.M. Thorp took the O.I.C. girls for a good-time trip to Wichita Thursday. The girls are Misses Bess Wible, Gladys Hewitt, Eugenia Corby, Virginia Thorp, Corinne Case and Dorothy Loveless.
