Herbert Thorp, Guy Sacket, Rosse Case and Al Richardson were in Herington Monday evening attending a meeting of the officers of the Old Santa Fe Trail Association. The local boosters are working for the locating of the Trail through Marion and then southwest through Aulne and Peabody, and to join the Meridian Rd. at Newton.

Ed Hauser’s wheat went 25 bushels and his oats 58 bushels. Oats generally throughout the county are fine, and many good wheat yields are being reported.

Henry Sallee has leased the garage next to the Record building. Frank Hoover will conduct the repair and supply business as announced last week.

The new bank at Pilsen will be open for business within a few days. A very attractive building has been erected just west of Jos. Cerney’s store. A man who comes from Nebraska will be the cashier. Many of the prominent people of the Pilsen community are stockholders.

A stroke of lightning hit the Masonic building yesterday afternoon and jarred one of the cap stones loose, but did no other damage.

Dr. Coffman, Dr. West, Dr. Marner, H.C. Perry, and Ralph Powers were in Florence last Friday evening shooting targets with some of the Florence Gun Club fellows. Dr. West was second high man, breaking 47 out of 50 targets.
