Up until the late afternoon on the Fourth, when the storm stopped the plans for the day, the celebration was carried off on schedule and was one of the most successful days of the kind held in the county for many years.

Quite a number of Marion folks had their first experience in an airplane the past week, and every one of them is enthusiastic about the experience.

A Curtis biplane was here on the Fourth and took quite a number of people up at ten dollars a ride. The plane was owned by G.B. Shaw of Newton.

Dr. C.C. Jones will move his dental office to the room now occupied by the McCarty second hand store.

His present office will be moved to lots north of the C.H. Mullen home where Mrs. P.F. Jones will occupy it until she can secure workmen to build her a home.

The name “Walter Reed” reminds us that he was the brother of Marion’s own Tom Reed. The hospital was named in honor of Walter Reed’s heroic sacrifice to the country in the stamping out of the yellow fever terror, in which work he sacrificed his life.
