The goblins are after you again and they ought to be. An ordinance has just been passed making it unlawful to spit on any sidewalk “abutting on any public street or alley” in town. If you do, it may cost you from one dollar to five. And the marshal says he proposes to see to it that the ordinance is enforced.

Custer’s regiment, the 7th U.S. Cavalry, made a peaceable visit to Marion this weekend. They will be out from the fort 21 days,
“swinging around the circle” via Herington, Marion, Peabody, Newton, Wichita, Sedgwick, McPherson and Salina.

A.J. Nienstedt and J.V. Bosh purchased autos this week from the Marion Motor Car Co. Both are E.M.F. Studebakers.

Ninety-six girls have enrolled in the Domestic Science and Art courses. This is a splendid showing of interest and the instructors are much pleased with the way the students are taking hold of the work.

A. Mott & Sons have sold their dray business to Tom Kellett and Bert Fox. The retiring owners have conducted the business with satisfaction to the public, being at all times prompt and accommodating. The new owners will no doubt render the same kind of service.
