An Interesting Idea

C.C. Minton is the author of a suggestion in connection with the improvement of Central Park, which is worth a great deal of consideration.

He suggests that when a bridge is built in the Park it be made a wagon bridge and built a short distance above the spring.

The idea is that some of these fine days the city will buy a strip of land along the west side of the park, south from the stone-arch bridge to connect with the park property that lies south of the creek to be used as a drive-way.

This drive-way would then run from just east of the auditorium and along the creek bank and across the new bridge and north to main street again just west of the Baptist church—a semi circular drive around the park.

The city already owns all the land required except a little strip on the south of the stone-arch bridge and west of the creek, and comparatively little grading would have to be done.

This drive-way would add greatly to the park’s usefulness and beauty. The south part of the park would be made easily accessible to carriages and would then make an ideal place for tenting, during a Chautauqua, for instance.

The drive-way would also be fine as a pleasure drive-way. And a lot of other things can also be said in favor of this plan.

It is not a fanciful idea—it is a practical suggestion and could be worked out by degrees without any great burden of expense.

F.R, Frobenius is displaying some fine specimens of monuments in front of the Marble works. He is preparing room for a car load shipment which is expected in a few days.
