Council meeting
At the regular meeting of the council Monday evening, regular business was transacted.
Mr. Lewis of the ordinance committee called up ordinance No. 328, being an ordinance relating to changes in names of certain streets in the city of Marion, and moved, seconded by Mr. Shanklin, that said ordinance be taken up for consideration and passage. The ordinance was read and on motion by Mr. Evans, seconded by Mr. Lewis, was amended by substituting the name “Root” for Madison street in Jex addition. The ordinance was then passed and appears elsewhere in this issue.
The matter of the Costello building on Main street, heretofore condemned, was referred to the nuisance committee with instructions to take such action as is required by ordinance.
Mr. Evans of the sewer committee reported that after consultation with Mr. H.M. Thorp, a location for a septic tank on Mr. Thorp’s premises had been agreed upon.
The resignation of Sam Kleinhammer as city marshal was presented and accepted. J.R. Woolwine was appointed and confirmed as marshal for the unexpired term.
Mr. Evans requested to be relieved from service as chairman of sewer committee. The request was granted and Rosse Case was appointed.
