The RECORD enters upon its fifteenth volume, this week. As a matter of fact, the paper is a year older than this statement exhibits, having lived under two other names about a year before it was christened RECORD. But, fourteen years is a good long time, and we won’t fuss about the other year we are entitled to. Fourteen years is enough to excuse people for referring to it as “the old thing.” But we want you to understand that no wrinkles furrow its face, no wig crowns its cranium, and no false teeth rattle in its mouth. It is as spry as a young widower at a picnic.

Two weeks from yesterday (Thursday) or Nov. 26th, is Thanksgiving Day, and on that occasion the good ladies of the Christian church propose to set a fine dinner for the public in the Rink for which they will only charge twenty-five cents. They will also set supper at the same place and for the same price. Oyster will be served at supper, for an extra quarter. These ladies deserve your patronage, besides, you will get more than the worth of your money.

The conspicuous “gold leaf” sign which adorns the top of the First National Bank building, and calls attention to the new Land and Loan agency of Messrs. Brewerton & Morris, was painted by Messrs. Apel & Mueller.

Mr. J.C. Good threatens to stop his RECORD and quit advertising in the old thing all because we didn’t say anything about that girl that came to his house last week. If he will forgive us, this time, we’ll promise not to slight him in the future.

Mr. John McCarty, auctioneer, will have an auction every Saturday afternoon at the Chapman livery stable, at which time he will sell stock, farming machinery, furniture, or anything you wish him to sell for you. Put your property in John’s hands, he will get as good prices as anyone can. And, you who haven’t anything to sell, should go around every Saturday and see what he has to sell. You may stumble on to some bargains that way.
