DAVIS-THARP—In Marion, by Probate Judge B.F. Brockett, on November 8th, 1885, Mr. Charles Davis to Miss Clara M. Tharp, both of Peabody.

BAKER-CHRISMER—In Florence, by Rev. J.M. Archer, on November 12th, 1885, Mr. Wm. H. Baker to Miss Malinda M. Chrismer, both of Florence.

Mr. Fred B. Clark, of the Central Bank of McPherson, son of Mr. W.R. Clark, came down to Marion last Saturday, accompanied by Prof. Everest, principal of the McPherson schools, to visit the former’s “home” folks. They came down on bicycles, and made the ride of 36 miles or more in four hours.

John Murphy complains that some people, hunters or somebody who have no business on his place, have frequently, of late, left his gates open, and he wants it stopped. A word to the wise is sufficient.

Prof. Rose has shown us a paper containing a map of the new town of Ulysses in Grant County, Kansas. Mr. Rose says he has helped at least 90 persons in this county locate claims in Grant County.

Supper at the Rink next Thursday for 25 cents. Oysters extra. You cannot afford to get up a big dinner at home on Thanksgiving, when you can go to the Rink and get one for 25 cents. The ladies of the Christian church will do all in their power to make the Thanksgiving dinner, supper and fair at the Rink the most enjoyable affair of the season.

Mr. D.D. Perry of Peabody was over to examine some of the numerous Baltimore Heaters in operation here, and was so well satisfied with his investigations that Mr. Pheland will warm and ornament his handsome home for him with one of these splendid heaters.
