The new Atlas of Marion county, made by the Davy Map and Atlas Company, of Chicago, Has been delivered to its numerous subscribers in this county, and so far as we have examined, fulfills all its promises. It locates every farmer in the county, and is a valuable book to have in the house.

The editor of this paper has had personal experience, the past week, of Messrs. Demoney & Bowen’s ability to move a house, and we cheerfully testify that they did us a good job. The house was 22x24 and though they had five or six turns to make, partly over uneven ground, they delivered it on the new foundation, six hundred feet away, in much better condition than we expected. Then, besides, they were patient and good-natured and didn’t swear an oath that we heard, all of which we record to their credit.

Jex & Town had to charter a car this week to ship marble monuments into McPherson county.

Judge Brockett has broken ground for a comfortable addition to his already snug residence on Cedar street. He is also fixing to fence his pretty premises. In fact, the whole hill is booming.

A hail storm of no insignificant proportion suddenly struck this section late Monday afternoon. The particles of ice that fell were not exactly as large as hen’s eggs, but they were large enough for all practical purposes.

A transient dentist, who extracts teeth without pain, has been holding forth in Marion the past week, with a long string of molars as trophies of former victories over the most miserable of all small aches.

Henry Hiebert, of Risley township, who shot a boy with salt, for stealing his apples last fall and who is sentenced to one year in the penitentiary therefor, has been pardoned by the Governor.
