To Whom it May Concern

We, the undersigned Commissioners of Marion county, Kansas, in building for the county the double track double arch stone bridge in the town of Marion, for which Lewis and Hoops were contractors, we found them to be honest and capable, and that said bridge, from piling to coping, is a first-class job of work, both as to material and construction, and in every way, so far as we could judge during its construction, the plans and specifications were honestly, faithfully followed, unless by us otherwise directed.

By order of Board.

J.N. Rogers, Chairman

Thos. Osborne

D.J. Fraser, Com’ers

W.H. Hamilton, County Clerk

The unfortunate man who was shot by mistake some weeks ago, up the Luta, died last Saturday night. He was supposed to getting well, and was walking around the day before his death.

That nice, neat little house Finley Shanklin has been working on at odd times for a long time is accounted for in our matrimonial department, elsewhere. He got the nest first, and then the bird, which is the proper way, and now the happily-mated pair are keeping house in their own “sweet home.”

In Hillsboro, Sept. 20, by Esq. W.C. Hill, Alexander Lisma to Mattie Brandley, both of Hillsboro.
