Mr. W.S. Lewis, of Doyle, called Monday and introduced a young Illinois friend, Mr. J.C. Reed, who has bought from Mr. Doster a quarter section of land near Burns. We understand that Mr. Reed expects to remove to Wichita about the first of the New Year, expecting to find there a wider and more profitable field for the practice of his profession—the law.

Eight persons, recent accessions to the Christian church, were baptized in the Cottonwood river last Sunday afternoon by Elder Foote.

You’d better behave when Will Hannaford is around—he’s deputy sheriff.

“Dr,” Albright, he who doctors “corns, bunions, in-growing nails,” etc., has been around this week making it “salubrious” for the tenderfeet, and promulgating his obstreperous observations promiscuously.

Mr. R.O. Nelson has entered upon his duties as county treasurer, and we understand has retained the services of Mr. F.L. Frazer, the outgoing treasurer. Mr. Nelson will make a good treasurer, and Fred Frazer, one of the best officers the county ever had, will help him do it.
